Report To Energy Safety
The Gas and Electricity Acts contain obligations for people to report certain things to Energy Safety. Persons involved in notifiable gas or electrical accidents must notify Energy Safety. There is also a requirement to follow up a notification with more detailed information in both the Gas and Electricity Regulations. Both regulations also place an obligation on licenced energy workers (electricians and gasfitters) to report immediately dangerous electrical or gas installations.
Although online notification of gas or electrical accidents is our preferred approach, if Internet access is not available, you may phone 0800 104 477 to speak to an operator.
Problems with energy products should first be resolved with the retailer or service provider using the provsions of the Consumer Guarantees Act. The Citizens Advice Bureau can provide further advice (0800 367 222). If you believe there is a direct safety issue with an electrical or gas product (especially if it is a generic problem) then you should also advise Energy Safety.
